Delhi Police has registered a case against the makers of the 'toolkit' for the farmers' agitation under sections of sedition, criminal conspiracy and hatred. This toolkit was shared by environmental activist Greta Thunberg. As you may be aware, in the Greta Thunberg Toolkit case, the police have arrested Bangalore's Climate Activist Disha Ravi and taken her on five days remand. All opposition parties and social organizations are protesting about this. But this is only the beginning for the police involved in the investigation of violent demonstrations at the Red Fort. The Delhi Police has started the search for Bombay High Court lawyer Nikita Jacob and another suspect Shantanu in the toolkit case against whom non-bailable warrants have also been issued. So what is the toolkit and why is there so much ruckus on it?

What is a toolkit?

A toolkit is a collection of information that helps in understanding and disseminating an issue. Actually, it is a document that turns a theory into a practical one, which is usually prepared for a particular issue and a particular audience / supporter. The more detailed and perfect the toolkit is, the more useful it will be for people.

This is a Google record intended to clarify an issue, which contains definite proposals for detailing an issue and making strides identified with it.

It is generally utilized with regards to web-based media, which contains data identified with petitions, fights or tumults.

The toolkit usually consists of 'action points' to increase movement. It tells you what to write, which hashtags to use, when to tweet or post and which ones to include.

In the present era, the toolkit is an important part of any movement strategy. Its main purpose is to coordinate with its supporters.

Apart from the agitators, all political parties, companies, educational institutions and social organizations also use the 'toolkit' for a particular issue.

How did it begin to be used?

The toolkit came into existence only a few years ago. It was first mentioned when the 'Black Lives Matter' movement started in America. During this time, people from all over the world joined it and the people associated with the movement created a toolkit to connect them with their campaign.

Through this, all the information about their work was shared, such as - Where to visit or stay away from the movement, where and how to gather, how to keep the nature of the movement, how to avoid police action, how active on social media Stay, through which hashtags should reach more and more people etc. Gradually its circulation increased and today it has an important role in worldwide movements.

On 3 February, Greta Thanberg made a tweet in support of the farmers and shared a toolkit with them, but the very next day she deleted the tweet saying that it was an old toolkit. On February 4, Greta once again tweeted in support of farmers and shared a new toolkit, in which she wrote, "This is the new toolkit created by people who are currently working on land in India. In 2011, there was the Occupy Wall Street Movement, which used a toolkit to protest the growing economic inequality in the US.

Similarly, in the toolkit prepared for the ongoing demonstration in Hong Kong in protest against a law recently enacted by China, the protesters were advised to put on masks and helmets. It was also suggested to wear an escape mask to hide the identity of the police and to wear a body protection suit to avoid being killed. During the Black Lives Matter movement in the US, some NGOs issued toolkits asking the agitators to respond to the propaganda against them.

What does Delhi Police say on the Toolkit FIR?

Initial investigations suggest that it was prepared by the Poetic Justice Foundation. Its prior action section was planned for January 26, the day violence erupted at several places in Delhi. The way of protest was set in Delhi on that day, but some farmers went out of the way and reached the Red Fort. The Delhi Police claims that the action plan was given in the toolkit on January 26 in exactly the same way as the violence was carried out.
