vaccine crisis in India.Issues related to the vaccine currently?

About 6 months ago, when India was witnessing a decline in the corona case, hardly anyone would have thought that India would witness the second wave of coronavirus. But this happened and India completely caught the coronavirus. Perhaps this is the reason why India's healthcare has collapsed. The way India was donating the Coronavirus vaccine to the world, it never felt that this country would ever be able to cope with the vaccine crisis. But this happened and now the universalization of vaccines in India is also seen as a setback along with the health service. Even though the Indian government has announced to vaccinate people above the age of 18 years, but the way in which the states have given up arms, it seems that the vaccination plan in India may be affected. One of its hallmarks is that India, which exports vaccines to the world, is now forced to import the vaccine itself. According to the news, India is importing about 1300,000 vaccine doses of Sputnik V vaccine from its friend country Russia. Not only this, India is also dependent on other countries for the raw material needed for the vaccine being manufactured in India. Although after a lot of effort, India agreed to send raw materials to the US, but the request of India to send vaccine doses has been rejected by the UK, saying that it does not have additional doses available. It can be said directly that the Modi government, which distributes the vaccine to the world, is itself seen lagging behind in vaccine diplomacy. The question is whether India, which has helped the world through its vaccine, is not a partner of global cooperation in the hour of this crisis? The question is, is India falling prey to any politics in developed countries? Vaccine nationalism is at the center of this tussle over vaccines or raw material, and this development is the result of a competition between different vaccines around the world. Let's try to understand some such points.

What are the issues related to the vaccine currently?

Many types of raw materials are needed for vaccine manufacturing, such as special chemicals, vials, tubes, cell culture medium, etc. Significantly, India has to import most of these things. The United States exports some of these things, but the US was delayed in agreeing to export to India. It is because of this that US President Joe Biden and his former Donald Trump enacted the Wartime Defense Products Act which calls for US companies to prioritize the production of Kovid-19 vaccines and PPE kits for domestic use only. This is why Tico's raw material supplier is forced to provide it only to US domestic manufacturers. But after the pressure from other countries of the world, this export to India became possible. If America did not provide this raw material to India, then the process of manufacturing vaccine in India could have been interrupted. Therefore, it is feared that the availability of vaccines in India may be disrupted due to the hindrance in the supply of these things in the future. This is worrying because India itself needs several crore doses of the vaccine. Apart from this, lack of finance is also a problem in India. The way in which there has been controversy over the vaccine prices in recent times, he is pointing to the problem of finance somewhere. Therefore, there is little hope for states that they will be able to ensure adequate availability of finance for supply, purchase and stock of vaccines as a policy. Apart from this, the global commitment to the delivery of vaccines is also an issue. The Global Alliance Program has so far distributed vaccine supplements in 84 countries. India has given 66 million vaccine supplements to the world. However, India has given some of them on commercial terms and some in the form of grants. In such a situation, India may have to comply with its international obligations. Because those given the first dose of the vaccine will also need a second dose. But the big problem is that India itself is facing a crisis like vaccine deficiency. Even if vaccines were distributed at the rate of three million per day, India could not make a universal policy for vaccination because of the lack of whether it would take 260 days for every adult in India to receive at least one dose of the vaccine. The reason is that India has supplied vaccines to the world without ensuring the supply of its citizens and this is why the Modi government's move is being criticized. Although India did this under vaccine friendship, but when the doors of help are closed for India itself, then this step is proving to be like axing the government on its feet. The question is why it took so long for India to open its doors of help? The world is witness to the fact that when the global powers were fueled by vaccine nationalism, India was sending vaccines to the countries of the world as a parent and generously. We have already mentioned that India has so far sent 66 million or 60 million vaccine doses to the countries of the world, just as India has done healthcare for the countries of the world, India should also have all possible help. But this is not happening in the case of vaccine. On one hand, Britain refused to send vaccine to India, on the other hand, after much struggle, America has agreed to give raw material to India. There is no doubt that the closeness between the US and India has increased in recent years. But despite this, there have been many occasions when America has made India uncomfortable. India had to be more comfortable on several occasions even during the Donald Trump government. Although after the warden became president, it was believed that the warden would not follow the tramp's path and in many cases it did, but in the case of the vaccine, America still maintains the policy of nationalism. And so it is prioritizing domestic needs, bypassing international requirements. Another reason is also global politics where it tries to counterbalance India and China differently. On many occasions the US comes towards India and counterbalances China. On the other hand, it keeps rebelling India by making various allegations related to non-tariff barrier and human rights violations. Apart from this, there is one thing that the Ceram Institute of India has the highest vaccine making capacity in the whole world. In such a situation, India has got its iron in the field of vaccine distribution by distributing the vaccine to the countries of the world. But the US wants to make inroads into the world markets. He is exploring the American vaccine market in the vaccine competition. Therefore, he does not want India to impress everyone with his contribution on the global stage in the field of vaccine.

Now what should be the way forward.

Just last year, 4 countries of the world, India, US, Australia and Japan attended the quad conference. In this conference, these countries had committed to fight the corona virus together and especially the US had assured all possible help on the Kovid-19 issue. But now when India needs help, America is ignoring it. When such a large forum has a country as a responsible country or if it assures assistance, then it should also be fulfilled, if the partner countries of the forum do not come together, then what will be the rationale of such an organization. If we talk about India's point of view, then it should encourage domestic production. Issues related to the manufacture of vaccines at the domestic level, such as the problem of finance, the project needs to be expedited in the manufacture of vaccine by soon resolving the clearance etc. As this program is expected to run for a long time, its implementation should also be expected to improve over time. This will increase its efficiency. Apart from this, India will have to take a sensible decision on the issue of vaccine exports. Before exporting to another country, your needs have to be taken into consideration. India should think about exporting money only after keeping its staff safe for the future. Significantly, India's Kovid-19 vaccine campaign is a historic campaign. India is not only taking care of its population but also taking care of the security of the countries of the world. With this, India has established itself as the world's largest vaccine producer. However, India needs to identify issues related to the production and development of the vaccine so that the problems can be resolved in the shortest possible time to ensure that the vaccine reaches a large population of the country.
